Bama Companies, a major innovator and manufacturer of food products headquartered in Tulsa, recently announced their certification as a B Corporation. The certification marks companies with high environmental and accountability standards and commitments to be the “Best for the World.”
“Bama believes business has a higher purpose than simply profit,” according to a press release from the company. “Bama has always practiced these initiatives as a way to differentiate themselves in the market, and now, with B Corp certification, can transparently benchmark and measure the impact they have with their team members, suppliers, customers, community and environment.”
The B Corp community is made up of 2,200 companies in more than 50 countries and 140 industries.
“Bama…has always believed that companies can be a force for good in the world,” according to a release from the company. “We are proud to announce that this aspiration was acknowledged…when Bama was certified as a B Corp by the independent B Lab.”
The B Lab is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to aligning the interests of business with those of society.
Bama received the certification Sept. 27, as it celebrates the Tulsa company’s 80th anniversary and moves into the fourth generation of family leadership.
“Bama has always been an agent for change,” according to the press release. “They have higher-quality jobs, improve the quality of life in their community, address challenging social-and-environmental problems and aim to inspire others to do the same and measure was matters. B Corp certification is a great step forward.
